Our lives are built upon the lives of those who came before us and so everything in my programs is a result of that and what is emerging. I am deeply grateful to all my teachers both those I have worked with in person and those whose written material have enriched my life and understanding. In this article I’ll be sharing the best recommended books on Mindfulness in my opinion.
There are of course many who influence us whose names we are not even aware of. The Buddha wasn’t alone in passing on wisdom, many people dedicated their lives to ensure that the wisdom was kept alive through the centuries. Even if I you have not read a word by Jon Kabat Zinn we all owe him a big “Thank you” for being instrumental in bringing mindfulness to the West in a very thoughtful and considered way, done with honesty and high integrity. I recommend anything by Kabat Zinn. There are many other teachers who have been giant sources of inspiration to subsequent thinking, practices and writings. As Buddhist/Wisdom teachers I recommend: Thich Naht Hanh, Meister Edkhart, Jack Kornfield, Tara Brach, Carl Rogers, William James, Josef Campbell, Eckhart Tolle, Genpo Roshi, RIck Hanson come to mind.
A good place to start is Mindfulness in Plain English, Wise Heart By Jack Kornfield, Buddha’s Brain by Rick Hanson or anything by Thich Naht Hanh or Kabat Zinn. Here’s are some Mindfulness practices I recommend.
